It is our pleasure to extend you a warm invitation to ICPR sponsored National Seminar on “Medical Ethics in India: Challenges and Prospects” organised by Ambedkar College, Fatikroy, North Tripura on 9th and 10th February 2012.

Developments of science and technology in the twentieth century have led to advances in medicine and health care that have benefited millions of lives. The changing context in which health care is provided has created new challenges for health workers and health researchers. Medical professionals increasingly find themselves confronted with moral questions and ethical dilemmas. The understanding of the challenges of medical science which are growing day by day in our society and the prospect of medical ethics in this context is utmost necessary. And hence, the Seminar.

It will be a welcoming break from daily routine to come together and share our views on the issues related to the Medical Ethics.

We look forward to learning and benefiting from your experience and presence   in our shared quest for excellence.

Call for papers:

Participants are requested to contribute papers on any of the sub themes (stated above) or any related
topics. The paper should be typed in Times New Roman Font in 12 point size, heading 14 point bold 
            font with 1.5 line spacing. The presenter should restrict herself/himself to one paper only, but one   
            can be co- author of another paper. The paper and abstract should be sent to the following address
            by DTDC/ Professional courier or by speed post or by Email only.

Important Dates:

            Last date for submission of Abstract: 25th January 2012.

Last date for submission of full paper: 5th February 2012

Registration                                         :  9th February 2012 from 9:00 A.M to 9:30 A.M
Registration fee- Rs. 200 for faculty.
                            Rs 100 for students


Accommodation:

Accommodation will be provided to all Resource Persons and outstation paper presenters in local
guest houses and hotels.

T.A.Reimbursement:

            Flight fare in economy class or 2 AC train fare will be reimbursed to the resource persons only.  They are requested to purchases Air tickets well in advance for both ways to avail themselves of the minimum fare.
            Second class train fare or bus fare will be reimbursed to the paper presenters.
TA will be reimbursed on production of original tickets only.

Kumarghat town is situated 1 km from Kumarghat railway station on Lumding-Agartala track of NF Railway.  All the trains plying on this track are having stoppage in Kumarghat. It can be  reach by bus from Agartala, Silchar, Guwahati and Shillong.

Places of Interest near Kumarghat
 UNOKOTI
                                  
                                   Unokoti is  one of the oldest Shiva pilgrimage centre. The distance between Fatikroy and Unokoti is 29 K.M. Unokoti means one short of a crore, an exaggeration of the colossal representation of Siva in varied forms along with other Gods or Goddesses those carved in bas-relief on the face of the hillock. These bas-relief sculptures of Siva depicting only faces may be considered as the largest in size in India. The three rock cuts Ganesha figures on a rock fall, down stream of a local spring which flows right on their head gives a bathing scene effect.
                                   The highly mutilated loose sculptures, some temple architectural members and traces of brick temple on the top of the hillock indicate an existence of a temple perhaps prior to these rock carvings datable to 9th-10th century A.D on the basis of Chaturmukha and Ekmukha Lingas, Umamaheswara,Mahishasuramurdini, Ganesha etc. This Unokoti was the great centre for religious activities that flourished at least for more than three centuries.

ROWA WILDLIFE SANCTUARY
                                  
                                   The Rowa wild life sanctuary is in the North Tripura district and can be approached from Panisagar. It is adjacent to the NH 44 and 24 KM from Kumarghat covering an area of 85.85 hectares. This sanctuary, rich in flora and fauna provides plenty of scope for study by the botanists, ecologists, environmentalists and researchers of wild life. A natural lake is another point of attraction in the sanctuary.

JAMPUI HILLS
                                  
                                   It is the highest hill range of Tripura situated at an altitude of 3000 ft. above the sea level and located about 64 km from Kumarghat town. Several view points present excellent panoramic views of the valley and villages of Mizoram. There is a watch tower at the highest peak of Tripura, Betlingchip (3200 ft. high). The hill is famous for its amiable climatic condition, luxuriant landscape flourishing forest, Longai river and beautiful orange gardens. Various species of flowers, orchids are abundant in this hill.
